Sad Ending On The James River This Memorial Day.

Richmond Fire Department responded to 9800 Cherokee Rd. for a possible water rescue. Richmond Fire Department arrived on scene to reports of 12 victims that went down the Bosher's Dam on the James River. Bosher's Dam has a recorded drop of 12 feet. Fire crews/companies entered the water just before 3:30pm and was able to rescue 10 out of 12 victims with help from surrounding civilians. At least 1 out of the 10 victims were transported to a local hospital. Richmond Fire, Henrico County Division of Fire, and Chesterfield Fire searched the river until 8:20pm attempting to locate the 2 missing victims. Fire crews creased operations because of nightfall. Tonight (5/30) there are at least 2 females around their 20s still missing. Richmond Fire Department has not changed the classification to a recovery operations and crews will return first thing in the morning (5/31) around 7:00am. A Richmond police department air unit was called to the scene to assist in locating the 2 females.


Chain of Command set up the command center at Richmond Fire Station 25, that is also were the reunification center is located at.
